But, here is a question for all of us to consider: if God blessed you with more than enough today, would your first thought be about your possessions, your comfort, and your future—or about God’s purpose for your life? The rich man’s failure was not that he experienced increase or desired growth—after all, it is God who gives the power to prosper. His real problem was the story he told himself about his success. Instead of seeing his abundance as an opportunity to honor God, serve others, and prepare for eternity, he focused only on the here and now. His heart was in the wrong place because he made plans for his possessions but gave no attention to the destiny of his soul. In today’s episode, we will explore what this parable teaches us about purpose, priorities, and living with eternity in view.
