Rivers have influenced the development of human societies, and still do, such as the Nile, Danube, Thames and many others. They awe us with their power, resilience, and ability to sustain all kinds of life on the planet. It is therefore not a coincidence that Jesus compared the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to the flow of rivers of living water. There are several lessons that we can learn from the river systems on the planet which would help us understand a bit more of the attributes and operations of the Holy Spirit. As symbols or emblems of the Holy Spirit, rivers of water do show us the majesty, power and beauty of the Operations of the Holy Spirit in our lives and Ministry.
